Understanding Our Young person’s privacy policy

Last updated: March 2026

Who we are

We are Life Lumina Hub, a UK charity. We help young peopleshine brighter by supporting life skills, or personal growth through activities, advice, and events. We care a lot about keeping your information safe and private.

What is this privacy policy

This is a simple explanation of how we collect, use, and protect your personal information (called “personal data”). If anything is confusing, ask a trusted adult, parent, carer, or us to explain it. You can always contact us with questions.

What is personal data

Personal data is any information about you. Examples include:
– Your name
– Your age or date of birth
– Your email address or phone number
– Where you live (or your school/college)
– Details about your interests, health, or experiences you share with us

How do we get your Information

We usually get it directly from you when you:
– Sign up for our activities, events, newsletters, or online groups
– Contact us by email, chat, phone, or social media
– Fill in a form or survey
– Take part in our programs or fundraising

Sometimes we get information from parents/carers (if you’re under 16 and they give consent), schools, or partners we work with safely.

Why do we need your Information

We use it to:
– Provide support, advice, events, or services to you
– Answer your questions or messages
– Keep in touch about things you might like (like upcoming events or newsletters) — but only if you say yes
– Improve what we do (e.g., see what young people find helpful)
– Keep you safe (e.g., if we’re worried about your wellbeing, we may need to tell someone who can help, like emergency services or safeguarding teams)
– Meet legal requirements (as a charity)

Who do we share your information with

We don’t sell your information or share it carelessly. We only share it if:
– You ask us to (or agree)
– We work with trusted partners (like other charities or professionals) to help you — we make sure they keep it safe too
– It’s needed to keep you or someone else safe (safeguarding rules mean we may have to tell authorities or parents/carers in serious cases)
– The law requires it

We use some safe online tools (like email services or event platforms) — they must follow strict UK privacy rules.

How long do we keep your information

We only keep it as long as we need it — usually for a few years after you last contact us or take part in something, or longer if the law says we must (e.g., for financial records). After that, we delete or destroy it safely.

Your rights

You have rights over your information, even as a young person. You can:
– Ask to see what information we hold about you
– Ask us to correct anything wrong
– Ask us to stop using it in some cases
– Ask us to delete it (though sometimes we can’t if we need it for safety or legal reasons)

If you’re under 13, we may need to involve a parent/carer for some requests. Just contact us to ask about any of these.

Keeping your information safe

We use strong security (like passwords, encryption, and safe storage) to protect your data from being lost, stolen, or seen by the wrong people.

Cookies and our website

If you visit our website, we may use small files called cookies to make it work better. We explain these in our main cookie policy.

Changes to this policy

We might update this if things change. Check back here, or we’ll tell you about big changes.
